The focus of my work is to capture the essence of what I create, whether it’s in a person, an object, or anything you can imagine or envision; I will capture it for you to enjoy for years and years.
I was born in Michigan in 1979 as the youngest of one brother and two sisters. My parents had a strong belief system and raised me in a loving Christian home.
At 19, I attended WOLBI for a year and decided then that I wanted to pursue the arts. I actually had my first studio at Poe Mill and in 2006 came the opportunity to be a part of Art Crossing in downtown Greenville, where my studio is currently located.
My art styles vary and include charcoals, oils, acrylics, graphite and other mixed mediums.
I love to work with individuals on commission pieces as well as live performances. These live performances range from settings such as formal conferences and expo shows and run all the way to concerts, cruises and events of all kinds. I also perform at intimate wedding receptions creating portraits of the beautiful brides and these too, are also painted live.
The live performance aspect began in 2008 when I was asked by my pastor, Perry Duggar, to paint to music in the Palm Sunday service. I was a bit unsure about it but agreed to do it. That was the first time I performed to live music. The first painting of this nature was “The Christ” which remains proudly displayed in my studio. This had such an impact and was so meaningful to both me and those in attendance that it opened a door to a completely different avenue, something I began to call ‘visual worship.’
I also frequently perform in churches to share my love of Christ. No matter how big or small the church may be, I am happy to travel to share this experience of visual worship. I also perform at fundraisers for many different charities including: Make a Wish Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, BMW Charity Pro-Am, Heartstep Foundation, The Good News Club, CPC, Rape Crisis Center, Defenders for Children, Alex House, HIS Radio, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and many others.
I’ve been blessed to share the stage painting to the live music of NewSong, Salvador, Don Felder, Javier Colon, and Mike D. with Tenth Ave. North, to name a few. I have also performed on the always sold-out K-LOVE Music Cruise.
Celebrities I have painted and met include George Hincapie, Don Felder, Jerry Rice, Javier Colon, Kevin Sorbo, DJ Unk, Lucas Glover, Edwin McCain, Michael Tait (vocalist) and Duncan (drummer) of the NewsBoys, and world renowned pianist Emile Pandolfi.
A few recent accomplishments to share include:
- In 2011, I was asked to paint live during the ceremony of the 1st Champions of the Faith Awards in Orlando, FL.
- In 2013, NewSong produced t-shirts of the “Face of God” image. During the Winter Jam Tour that year, they showed a time lapse video of the creation of the paining during their performance each night. This was seen by thousands of people across the country.
- I have illustrated a children’s book named “Just The Dog.”
- Art (I think that goes without saying)
- Social Entertainment / Entertaining
- Spending time with loved ones…my wife Barbara, my step-children Jessica and Matthew, my friends, my family
As mentioned, I come from a family of strong values, and I would describe my faith as a personal relationship with my Lord.
My faith has given me the strength to set a level of intensity that pours onto the canvas for you to enjoy.
Every stroke, every detail…I leave a piece of me on the canvas. If I didn’t believe in what I was doing, you would be able to see it in my work.
I welcome you to come and see for yourself!
