The focus of my work is to capture the essence of what I create, whether it’s in a person, an object, or anything you can imagine or envision; I will capture it for you to enjoy for years and years.
I was born in Michigan in 1979 and the youngest of one brother and two sisters. My parents had a strong belief system and raised me in a loving Christian home.
At 19 I attended WOLBI for a year and decided then I desired to pursue the arts. I actually had my first studio at Poe Mill and in 2006 came the opportunity to be a part of Art Crossing in downtown Greenville, where my studio is currently located.
My art styles vary and include charcoals, oils, acrylics, graphite and other mixed mediums.
I love to work with individuals on commission pieces as well as live performances. These live performances range from settings such as conferences and run all the way to concerts, cruises, expo shows and events of all kinds. I also perform at intimate wedding receptions creating portraits of the beautiful brides and these too, are also painted live.
The live performance aspect began in 2008 I was asked by my pastor, Perry Duggar, to paint in the Palm Sunday service to music. I was a bit sceptic about it, but agreed and that was the first time I performed to live music. The first painting of this nature was “The Christ piece” that remains proudly displayed in my studio. This had such an impact and was so meaningful to both me and those in attendance that it opened a door to a completely different avenue. I began to call this ‘visual worship.’
I now perform in churches to share my love of Christ. No matter how big or small the church may be, I am happy to travel to share this experience of visual worship. I also perform at fundraisers for many different charities including … Make a Wish Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, BMW Charity Pro-Am, Heartstep Foundation, The Good News club, CPC, Rape Crisis Center, Defenders for Children, Alex House, HIS Radio, Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
I’ve been blessed to share the stage painting to the music of NewSong, Salvador, Don Felder, Javier Colon, Mike D w/ Tenth Ave North to name a few…; I’ve also performed on The Music Boat and the K-Love Cruise.
Celebrities I’ve painted and met include George Hincapie, Don Felder, Jerry Rice, Javier Colon, Kevin Sorbo, DJ Unk, Lucas Glover, Edwin McCaine, Michael Tait (vocalist) and Duncan (drummer) both for NewsBoys, and world renowned Emile Pandolfi.
A few recent accomplishments to share include:
- In 2011 I was asked to create and paint during the actual awards for the 1st Champions of the Faith Awards.
- NewSong made t-shirts of the “Face of God piece” as they displayed the same painting during their performance during Winter Jam in a time lapse film which was shared with thousands of people all over the country.
- I’m currently illustrating a children’s book named ‘Just The Dog’
While my interests are tangible, they each offered me different perspectives on how to approach the hurdles life throws at you.
- Art (I think that goes without saying)
- Social Entertainment / Entertaining
- Spending time with loved ones … my wife Barbara, my step children Jessica and Matthew, my friends, my family
As mentioned, I come from a family of strong values, and I personally would describe my faith as a personal relationship with my Lord.
My faith has given me the strength to set a level of intensity that pours onto the canvas for you to enjoy.
Every stroke, … every detail, I leave a piece of me on the canvas. If I didn’t believe in what I was doing, you would be able to see it in my work.
I welcome you to come and see for yourself!
